Object 3. Raphael's secondary school notebook
Description:
In this second notebook Raphael as a secondary school student in Cambridge demonstrates his meticulousness, which can also be seen in Herbert Loewe’s polyglot notebooks. In it he has copied the Notes on the Acts of the Apostles by the Rev. H. Bisseker, who was the headmaster of the Leys School, Cambridge, which Loewe attended in the 1930s. Most of the notes are in Greek and English, and Raphael has added his own vocabulary lists.
The notebook is hardbound with a dark red cover, pages are ruled, and all Raphael's notes are in ink.
In the sample images to the right, Raphael's own comments on the copied text appear in red ink.
