Object 14. Lowe's Jewish Essentials
1937
Description:
'Jewish Essentials' was written in 1937 by James H. Lowe. He referred to himself on this publication as ‘A Traditional Israelite’. He aimed to explain the basic principles of Judaism and he notes that Jews and non-Jews will find the book helpful. James is weary of young Jewish children being drawn away from Judaism to a universal religion and hopes that the book will guide many, including his grandchildren, to Judaism. The book is therefore primarily didactic rather than theological.
